This is a brilliant list! My favorite opening line is "Call me Ishmael" from Moby Dick. Yes, I know, it's not an easy read and may not be a good copywriting example as a book, but that opening line captivated me! It's the perfect example of the author taking total control of the narrative, and showing the readers he is incharge and he's the expert. From here on, you trust the author and in what he says
